Who we are
Isabel's Story
I’m a Perioperative Nurse in the Surgical Observation unit. I care for patients who go through same-day-surgery and require observation to ensure a safe discharge. I chose to pursue a career at Children’s Mercy after I shadowed here. Each unit that I observed made me feel welcomed and I could tell that the team members were passionate about the quality of care they provided for the patients and families. Additionally, I relocated to Kansas City from another state, so it was important to find an organization that fostered an environment of support and kindness, as well as prioritizing employee growth and wellbeing. I’ve found my home at CM and absolutely love being a pediatric nurse! Witnessing the strength and resiliency of our patients is truly inspiring. I get to celebrate with them on their most exciting days and walk alongside them in their hardest moments – and that is a true gift!
—Isabell Carter, Staff Nurse, 3 West Surgical Observation Unit
