Preparing for your first appointment with Allergy, Asthma and Immunology
It's nice to know what to expect when you are bringing your child to the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Clinic at Children's Mercy. Below is some important information and reminders before your child’s appointment.
Important reminders
- Skin prick testing is a common allergy test that can be done at the visit. Because skin testing may be recommended, we ask that you stop all antihistamines 7 days prior to your child’s appointment unless your child is being seen in Immunology. This includes some nasal sprays and eye drops.
- Do not stop your child's asthma medications or inhalers.
- Call the clinic at (816) 960-8900 if you have questions.
Preparing for your child's appointment
If you received any forms from Children’s Mercy, be sure to complete them before your child’s visit. These forms include helpful information your provider needs for your child’s visit. Remember to bring to the appointment:
- Insurance card
- Medication List
- Outside lab results of records (if available)
- Snacks and entertainment
Your child can use this roadmap to follow their day through their first visit.
Length of visit
Please note that your child's appointment may take between 45 minutes and 2 hours , depending on any test they may need.
