The Brendan Tripp Elam Transplant Center at Children’s Mercy Kansas City specializes in pediatric heart, liver and kidney transplants as well as multi-organ transplants like heart-liver, heart-kidney and liver-kidney. The Transplant Center is comprised of specialists built from three nationally recognized departments by U.S. News & World Report within Children’s Mercy. Our purpose is to be the destination for holistic, innovative and unparalleled transplant care for children.
Built on collaboration, our transplant team works hand in hand with you to deliver thorough care from pre-transplant evaluation to post-transplant recovery. We aim to ease any challenges related to time and resources and ensure that your patients receive the necessary support at every step.

About each program
Heart
The pediatric Heart Transplant Program at Children’s Mercy provides care for children who have no other medical or surgical options to fix a failing heart without serious risk. The transplant program is part of the Ward Family Heart Center, which is nationally recognized as one of the top pediatric heart centers in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
Kidney
Children’s Mercy operates the largest pediatric kidney transplant program in Missouri and Kansas. The transplant program complements the nationally recognized pediatric dialysis program and is a key component of the Division of Nephrology.
Liver
The Pediatric Liver Transplant Program at Children’s Mercy provides comprehensive approach to treating children with end-stage liver disease and/or failure. The Liver Transplant Program is a key component of our comprehensive Liver Care Center which is a part of our top-rated Gastroenterology division.
