Pediatric Resuscitation Training through Simulation Programs
The Center for Excellence in Pediatric Resuscitation provides state-of-the-art resuscitation training for health care professionals working in acute pediatric care settings. These training programs equip your team with emergency intervention skills to care for critically-ill children and newborns.
Training courses include a mobile program option where your staff can learn in the convenience of your own hospital or medical office setting.
We also host training sessions through our Living Laboratory "Playroom," which includes realistic medical spaces that replicate trauma and exam rooms. All courses are scheduled during the work day, eliminating the need for travel or attending classes during weekends or evenings.

Program highlights
-
Computer-controlled mannequins simulate life-like medical conditions and real-time physiological responses.
-
Courses are conveniently scheduled during the work day.
-
Training is designed to help improve teamwork, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
-
Trainees learn about medication safety and practice seldom-used emergency treatment skills.
Our simulation model offers the latest resuscitation training in the convenience of your own hospital setting. Training is designed to recreate real-life medical crises and situational anxiety for an optimal level of learning. Experienced instructors guide the exercises and provide feedback and correction throughout the process.
How the simulation program works
After assessing your needs, our staff will customize a curriculum tailored to your objectives. Through the use of scenario-based exercises, training will be delivered in a four-step process that recreates real-world cases.
-
Orientation to the process and technology
-
Simulated scenario (with or without video recording)
-
Facilitated debriefing to identify gaps in learners’ knowledge and skills
-
Reflection and gap closure
This process is highly adaptable to meet a wide variety of clinical needs. Additional complexity can be incorporated through:
-
The use of trained actors/actresses
-
Introduction of deliberate errors
-
Application of makeup, clothing, and other props to enhance realism
-
Transfer of the simulated patient through multiple steps in the continuum of care
Current and past initiatives

Neonatal Resuscitation Program
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for health care professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing, online case-based simulations, and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.
