Environmental Health Program
The Environmental Health Program at Children’s Mercy is a nationally recognized program that provides environmental health consulting, assessments and investigations, research, education, training, and analytical testing services. Our team aims to help improve children’s health and advocate for improved indoor environments where children live, play, and learn.

Children's Mercy provides comprehensive pediatric environmental health services through the Mid-America Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (MAPEHSU).
The Healthy Homes Program is a partnership between our staff, your health care provider, and you to help identify and reduce environmental exposures that may cause or worsen health problems.
The Healthy Schools and Childcare Program helps school districts and child-care organizations develop effective strategies to improve the indoor environments of their facilities.
The Environmental Health Program has been providing professional training courses since 2007. We are a leading training provider on healthy homes and home environmental assessment and have developed courses that teach how to effectively assess and communicate about health and safety risks in buildings. We offer training courses throughout the year.
We offer healthy school workshops for childcare providers and professional healthy school training courses for facility management staff, health staff, and other professionals.
Children’s Mercy serves as the KC community outdoor pollen and mold counting station that is certified by the National Allergy Bureau (NAB).
