Child Life 101 Workshop information
The Child Life Department at Children’s Mercy is pleased to offer an informational session to those who are interested in learning about the field of child life. Students, educators, academic advisors, and community members are welcome to attend. This half-day session will include information from the Association of Child Life Professionals on the child life profession and specific guidelines/requirements in becoming a child life specialist. This workshop will provide information on:

The history of the profession.

Play and therapeutic interventions.

Preparation and procedural support.

Health care play.

Pathway to becoming a child life specialist.

Volunteer opportunities at Children's Mercy.

Q & A session with child life specialists.

Hospital tour.
Participant requirements

Child Life 101 participants must be 18 years or older and have graduated from high school.

Participants must submit a completed registration form, a signed confidentiality agreement, and proof of current flu vaccine.
Session Details
All sessions will take place virtually.

*Confirmation of acceptance to attend this session will be communicated to applicant via email. Information on logging in to the virtual session will be provided with acceptance email.
*Availability for each session will be on a first come first serve basis as space is limited.
