Language Services Student Practicum

The Language Services Department at Children’s Mercy is recognized in the community as an exemplary training grounds for individuals who are interested in a career as a medical interpreter. Student practicum experiences are available in a variety of inpatient, outpatient and community settings. Student practicums are offered to students attending college in which current education agreements/contracts are established with Children’s Mercy Kansas City. Depending on the contract agreement, students may have the opportunity to shadow and gain interpreting experience under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Medical Interpreter (SMI). We are not able to accept students with other degree concentrations.
