Pediatric Neurology

Educational objectives: The primary goal of the rotation is to teach the skills and principles underlying the recognition and management of neurological disorders one is most likely to encounter in practice. On the rotation, students will:

• Participate in the inpatient service (mornings) and in the outpatient clinic (afternoons)

• Become familiar with the diagnosis, management and treatment of common and uncommon childhood neurological disorders including: seizures, developmental delay, degenerative disorders, perinatal problems in premature and full-term infants; headaches, head injuries, movement disorders and CNS tumors

• Attend relevant lectures and seminars

Elective duration: One month

Prerequisites: Completion of the Core Pediatric Clerkship is desirable.

Description: Student will see and examine patients in clinic, make consultation rounds, etc. One-on-one instruction and supervision of clinical activities. Independent reading assignments.

Criteria for passing: Satisfactory performance on the clinical evaluation.

Criteria for honors: Outstanding performance on the clinical evaluation.
