Locations
Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship
The Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Toxicology is located on the main floor of the Hospital's Sutherland Tower. This space includes the division offices, a clinical research unit, and the Developmental Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Laboratory. The laboratory supports the clinical and basic research programs of the division and includes core bioanalytical support for clinical studies. Specific areas within the facility are designed for and devoted to cell culture, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, high throughput DNA sequencing, and various genotyping platforms for applied research.
Clinical Research Unit
In 2012, a new pediatric clinical research unit opened on the main campus of Children's Mercy Kansas City. The state of the art design of the new clinical research space was created to ensure the safest and most efficient clinical trials can be performed on our patients at Children's Mercy. The new unit has three individual patient rooms and one larger three-bed room to accommodate families with multiple children participating in a research study. The unit also has been outfitted with a nutrition room, medication room, exam room, processing laboratory, nurses' station, and four dedicated offices for research personnel. It is located in close proximity to the hospital cafeteria, gift shop, and inter-faith chapel.
Research Laboratory Building
Children's Mercy has approximately 44,000 square feet of state-of-the-art wet research laboratories with attached offices and conference rooms for investigator use located on the main campus. The research building includes separate laboratories dedicated to support work in molecular genomics, bioinformatics, allergy/clinical immunology, nephrology, medical genetics, diabetology, fungal genomics, lung biology and regenerative medicine.
