Academic Curriculum
Pediatric Ethics Fellowship
Academic Curriculum
Fellows will participate in all clinical, educational, and research activities of the Center. They will also complete a mentored research project on a topic of their choice in pediatric bioethics. They may participate in meetings in our Center for Genomic Medicine, Fetal Health Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Ethics Committee, Palliative Care Service, Nurse Ethics Forum, or other areas of interest around the hospital, the medical school, or the city. The fellow will participate in the Pediatric Bioethics Certificate Program. Students will become knowledgeable in pediatric bioethical issues such as the role of ethics committees, ethics consultations, futility and moral distress, end-of-life decisions, research ethics, and much more.
In addition, fellows may participate in common curriculum courses at Children's Mercy. There is an opportunity to attend research meetings at Children's Mercy Bioethics Center, as well as develop a mentored research project while meeting regularly with a mentor.
