Pediatric Pathology Fellowship
The fellowship in Pediatric Pathology at Children's Mercy is a one-year program approved and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), sponsored by the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
The fellowship provides comprehensive experience in the field of pediatric pathology and will provide the graduating fellow with the experience necessary to enter an academic career.
Upon graduating the program, the fellow will

Be a qualified candidate who has successfully completed at least two years of anatomic pathology training.

Be exposed to every aspect of the field with a large number of complex cases.

Acquire knowledge and understanding of disease causality, natural history, diagnostic, prognostic and monitoring techniques used in medical evaluations of the pregnant mother, embryo, fetus, infants and children.

Learn to apply and interpret this knowledge as clinical circumstances warrant in a fashion that expedites quality care in a cost-effective manner.

Be exposed to comprehensive testing capabilities including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, toxicology, cytogenetics, F.I.S.H., CISH and transplantation pathology.
Clinical experience
Forensic and placental pathology rotations occur at three adjacent affiliated institutions and include high-risk obstetrical services. The fellow is expected to present research at didactic conferences and meetings.
The fellow will complete 2,000 surgical and cytology cases, 50 intra-operative consultations (frozen sections) and 40 during the course of the program, providing diverse practical experience.

- PGY 4: $78,540.80
- PGY 5: $79,539.20
- PGY 6: $81,203.20
- PGY 7: $84,468.80
- PGY 8: $86,590.40
