Community Projects Completed by Children’s Mercy Residents
Residents in the global health track have led and organized several local, community projects in coordination with Kansas City organizations. These community projects and partnerships set a firm foundation for continued sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships between Children’s Mercy and the Kansas City community.
Some of the projects include:
Winter Warmth where refugee families were provided winter clothing staples such as hats, gloves, and coats in coordination with the main refugee resettlement agencies in Kansas City.
Bike Rodeo in partnership with BikeWalkKC to provide education around bike safety for area kids.
Child Health and Safety Fair in partnership with many local organizations such as KCFD, Literacy KC, and Harvesters to teach about safe sleep, healthy eating, etc.
Provider Handouts on Refugee Perspectives on Health with input from JVS, Catholic Charities and Iman’s Pharmacy.
