Kreamer Resource Center for Families

The Kreamer Resource Center for Families is located on the ground floor near the Gift Shop and Cafeteria. This family resource center was designed with the needs of the family in mind. Children can explore our play area filled with toys and games while parents and caregivers catch up on personal or work related tasks using our computers, printers, fax machine, scanner, and copier. The Resource Center is also a great place to relax and take a break from the bedside, or wait between outpatient appointments.

Resource Center Hours

Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Resource center offers an easy check out system to borrow iPads, laptops and new movies on DVD. The Resource Center also offers health information, books to read for enjoyment and a private meeting space. For urgent or after hours needs, families can ask their child life specialist for assistance. For urgent iPad, laptop, book or movie needs when the Resource Center is closed, ask your nurse to call the child life specialists for assistance.

Parent Support Program Coordinator

Parent Support Program Coordinators are located in the Kreamer Resource Center and are here to provide support to the parents and caregivers of patients at Children’s Mercy.  We have specific activities, self-care items, and resources that are meant to help caregivers take care of themselves while they are caring for their children in the hospital.  Parent Support Program coordinators can come to the bedside for individualized support, or caregivers are welcome in the Kreamer during our open hours to come and request items, utilize our resources, and know that someone is here just for them.

With self-care in mind, families can learn about our parent to parent support programs, POPS (Parents Offering Parents Support) and check out our weekly parent activities offered in our Activity Room. Families will also find health information and tools to help children cope with their illness or being in the hospital.
