The BEE Award


The BEE (Being Excellent Every Day) Award celebrates Children's Mercy team members who exemplify quality service, extraordinary care, and a willingness to go the extra mile for patients and families.

The BEE Award recognizes team members outside of nursing for going above and beyond, including unit secretaries, environmental services, facilities, food service, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physical therapists, security, and more.

Patients and families, fellow employees, or visitors can nominate a staff member for one of these awards.

The CARE Award


The CARE Award (Celebrate Achievement, Reward Excellence) is for direct patient caregivers who are not nurses such as care assistants, technicians and those not currently recognized by other programs including the DAISY or PHIL awards.

The CARE award is given to a team member that demonstrates the core values of Children’s Mercy (kindness, curiosity, inclusion, team and integrity), go above and beyond expectations and have made a difference in the life of a patient, visitor or colleague.

Patients and families, fellow employees or visitors can nominate a team member for one of these awards.

The DAISY Award at Children's Mercy

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses


The DAISY Award recognizes the important daily contributions nurses make in the lives of the patients and families.

The award is given every other month to an extraordinary nurse whose clinical skill and compassion make an enormous difference in the lives of the patients and staff of Children’s Mercy.

Children’s Mercy nurses can be nominated by their nurse administrators, peers, physicians, patients and families.

The PHIL Award


The PHIL (Pulmonary Health and Illness of the Lungs) Award is the only nationally recognized hospital-based recognition program dedicated to honoring outstanding respiratory therapists who provide exemplary care and treatment for patients with respiratory illnesses.

Children’s Mercy respiratory therapists may be nominated by their administrators, peers, nurses, physicians, patients and families.
